After a young 11-year-old Barry Allen witnesses his mother’s murder one night, he is taken in by Detective Joe West and his family after Barry’s father was accused of murdering his wife. Barry and his father both maintained his innocence since that night. 11-year-old Barry Allen maintains there was “a man” in the room the night his mom was killed and is the one responsible for his mom’s death, claims it was something that seems impossible as it was supernatural, and of course, is not believed. As Barry grows up without his father who is still locked away in Iron Heights prison he is determined to solve the mystery and thus devotes his entire life to this, forfeiting a lot of personal self-interest. Barry attends college and then becomes a crime scene investigator for the Central City Police Department. When a particle accelerator malfunctions, bathing the city center with radiation during a thunderstorm, Barry is struck by lightning.
